Lebanon, Hezbollah hits a MERKAVA tank with an FPV: a first 27/03/2026 | EDITORIAL TEAM

Last night, Hezbollah released a video showing an FPV drone striking an Israeli MERKAVA tank in an unspecified location in southern Lebanon.

At this stage, the extent of the damage remains unknown. However, what is particularly noteworthy is that this attack appears to represent a first for the Hezbollah (or, at least, no similar “Ukraine-style” footage had surfaced until now).

It is also worth noting that the MERKAVA shown in the video does not feature anti-drone cage armor, as seen, for instance, in Gaza. This may suggest that Israeli forces either underestimated or did not fully account for this threat - or simply did not have sufficient time to adapt.

Also yesterday, Hezbollah released 2 additional recordings captured by ATGMs/loitering munitions, showing strikes against another MERKAVA and a NAMER APC (in this case, the missile can be seen impacting the vehicle’s APS). Here too, the vehicles were not equipped with anti-drone cages.
