Sweden announces its largest aid package for Ukraine 05/02/2025 | CAROLINA PAIZS

Last Thursday, 30 January, the Swedish Ministry of Defence announced a military aid package for Kiev, the largest approved by the Scandinavian country to date, amounting to $1.23 billion (SEK 13.5 billion).

Through this package, Stockholm has doubled the amount of Stridsbåt CB-90 fast assault boats it will supply to Kiev, which will amount to a total of 32, and will donate 1,500 BGM-71 TOW anti-tank missiles and 200 Saab Bofors Dynamics AT-4 light anti-tank systems.

Part of the funds will go to the purchase, from Swedish and international manufacturers, of weapons and equipment - at the moment unspecified, but it should include artillery ammunition, long-range attack systems and drones - newly produced for Kiev.

Another part of the package will be aimed at the repair and maintenance of other equipment previously donated to Ukraine. Sweden have provided Kiev with, among other things, 50 CV90-40C infantry fighting vehicles, 10 MBT STRV 122s, 8 ARCHER 155mm artillery self-propelled vehicles, and has promised 2 Saab 340B AEW-300 aircraft.

With this latest package, the 18th since the start of the war in Ukraine, the total value of aid provided to Kiev by Stockholm now amounts to some USD 5.58 billion (SEK 61.9 billion).
