Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence has announced the adoption of an indigenously developed robotic Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) named ‘LOGISTIC ZMIY’ within the armed forces. The announcement was made by the Ukraine MoD’s Main Directorate for Support of the Life Cycle of Weapons and Military Equipment.
“Thanks to its low profile, the 'LOGISTICS ZMIY' remains inconspicuous in the terrain. The robot can carry several hundred kilograms of cargo or tow a trailer of comparable weight,” said Colonel Volodymyr Rochniak, Head of the Main Department of Support for the Lifecycle of Weapons and Military Equipment. Indeed, in addition to transporting people and cargo, the UGV can also tow light vehicles.
The 'LOGISTIC ZMIY' UGV which features ballistic, and mine protection has been designed to undertake logistics and evacuation tasks in the combat zone. It is operated remotely by an operator from a secure location. The noiseless UGV features a silent electric motor, and it is fitted with metal wheels allowing for excellent mobility while navigating rough terrain, stones, mud, and shallow water obstacles.
