NP Aerospace Expands UK Armoured Vehicle Assembly Capabilities 21/01/2025 | Editorial Team

In a significant development for the UK defense industry, NP Aerospace has announced a major expansion of its armoured vehicle assembly and integration capabilities.

This move, revealed on January 21, 2025, coincides with the International Armoured Vehicles (IAV) conference in Farnborough, UK, and marks a new chapter in the company's growth strategy.

The global vehicle integrator and armour manufacturer is currently in the process of assembling and integrating over 150 specialist armoured vehicle systems, with expectations for even more throughout 2025. These systems span a wide range, from complete Civilian Armoured Vehicles (CAVs) to fully integrated tactical vehicles and armoured cab sub-systems This expansion follows NP Aerospace's strategic acquisition of Jankel Armouring Limited's assets in June 2024.

Since then, the company has successfully novated several contracts from its predecessor and secured additional agreements. In September 2024, NP Aerospace was awarded 7 individual vehicle-related contracts from the UK Ministry of Defence. More recently, the company has landed three additional contracts, including one from Belgium for the remainder of their LTTV fleet and two from undisclosed customers for specialist integrated armoured vehicles. The scope of NP Aerospace's current operations is impressive.

The company is now executing nine different vehicle assembly and integration related contracts for four global customers, including both ministries of defence and industry vehicle OEM partners. This new work complements NP Aerospace's established services in vehicle survivability, support, post-design services, and spare parts provision.

As reported by FW MAG in 2024, to support this significant ramp-up in production, NP Aerospace has embarked on a hiring spree, recruiting over 60 new staff members since the Jankel Armouring Limited asset acquisition. This expansion of the workforce underscores the company's commitment to growth and its ability to meet increasing demand.

James Kempston, CEO of NP Aerospace, expressed his satisfaction with the company's progress, stating, "We're very pleased indeed to announce the ramp up of our UK-based armoured vehicle assembly and integration capabilities." He emphasized that the company has taken the time to "get things right" following the acquisition, focusing on securing top talent to build a strong foundation for serving a global customer base.

Looking ahead, NP Aerospace's primary focus will be on delivering the key contracts it has secured. Simultaneously, the company aims to showcase its capabilities to a broader global audience, including international OEMs. Kempston affirmed the company's ambition to become the UK-based vehicle system assembly, integration, and support partner of choice.

This expansion positions NP Aerospace as a key player in the UK's defence industry, capable of delivering UK-based assembly and integration of full or partial vehicle systems for military customers and vehicle OEM industry partners.
