On October 2, Fincantieri held a ceremony at its Muggiano shipyard (La Spezia) to celebrate the hand over of the 4th PPA, GIOVANNI DELLE BANDE NERE, to the italian Navy.
The vessel had been launched on February 12, 2022 at Fincantieri's Riva Trigoso (Genoa) shipyard, and it is the first in Full Combat configuration.
The second Full Combat PPA, DOMENICO MILLELIRE, was launched on July 13, 2024 in Riva Trigoso, and is likely to be delivered in 2026.
Present at the ceremony were, among others, Lieutenant Admiral Andrea Gueglio, Director General of Naval Personnel, and the Director of the Naval Armaments Directorate (Navarm), Admiral Chief Inspector Giuseppe Abbamonte, the Director of the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR), Joachim Sucker, Attilio Dapelo, Director of Operations of Fincantieri's Military Ships Division, and Antonio Quintano, Director of the Riva Trigoso-Muggiano Integrated Shipyard.
