Euronaval has long been the showcase where Naval Group presents its most interesting concepts in the maritime domain, and the 2026 edition is no exception. A scale model of the SCX26 is on display at the company’s stand. The future combat ship concept is, in size and design, effectively a destroyer.
Powered by a CODLAG propulsion system, the vessel is 170 m long, 24 m wide and displaces 8,000 tonnes. It reaches a maximum speed of 30 knots and has a range of more than 8,000 nautical miles. The crew is 150, but accommodation for an additional 100 senior officers and specialist personnel is planned.
The architecture is essentially built around 2 integrated modules, with a modular area designed to host new operational capabilities in modular form.
The stern section is built around a large mission bay, which essentially serves as a centralized hangar for launching and recovering drones (UUVs, AUVs, UAVs) and helicopters. The flight deck is sized for an NH-90 helicopter.

Sensors include a UHF radar dedicated to ballistic missile defense, an AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar derived from the SEA FIRE family, an anti-submarine sonar suite, and advanced electronic warfare capabilities.
The main armament comprises 100 VLS cells (Vertical Launching System) in various configurations and modules, probably of the SYLVER family for launching ASTER 30, MdCN and, given the concept’s future orientation, probably also the AQUILA interceptor.
Close-in defense is provided by 2 RAMPART multi-function modular launchers (for guided rockets, missiles, mini-torpedoes, decoys, etc.) and a 100 kW laser.
